The Pleated Stories is a platform for stories of all kinds and today’s story is indeed one of a kind! I hope this story leaves a mark on you as it did for me. Radhika Saxena, a women’s and children’s rights advocate who has taken every chance to stand up for her clan. Born and raised in Agra, at the age of 21, she has paved an unconventional path for herself. With a heart full of passion and a head full of dreams, she’s a go-getter. Her journey in the India’s Miss TGPC is an exemplar of the kind of person she is. The India’s Miss TGPC (The Great Pageant Community) is an online beauty pageant, which has been a catalyst for many aspirational people like her.

She identifies as a learner and sees every opportunity as a window to learn, grow and transform. However, it is not only her passion that has led her to become a finalist but also her strong and empathetic personality. Despite being an engineering graduate, Radhika just didn’t want to resort herself to the 9 to 5 life, instead decided to give back to the society. Behind that beautiful smile lies a very big responsibility of being the voice of Project Surakshaa, a one stop portal which provides help for domestic abuse survivors.

As we are all aware, the number of domestic abuse cases in India has been spiking with each passing day. Since the lock down, we’ve lost count on the number of cases and these are just the reported cases. However, there are so many women suffering in silence. We’re still living in a world where domestic abuse is considered a taboo and there’s isn’t sufficient help for the survivors. However, Project Surakshaa assists people by providing emotional support, online counselling and therapy, shelter for the ones in need and helps you connect with the authorities. Radhika single handedly manages this along with her other passions. You can check her out on Instagram @radhikasxn and seek help from her website Project Surakshaa. Show her lots of love and support her, as women who inspire and support other women, deserve every bit of that love and support!
